ROUND UP OF MATCHES WEEK 7




Week 7 began with the game between Leicester City and Burnley, the game was tactical and full of chances  for both teams. The game produced four goals and three of those goals came in the first half. The opening goal however came in the 33rd minute through Schlupp , but the celebration didn’t last long as  Kightly got the equalizer in the 39th minute. Suddenly Leicester fans went wild again as Mahrez put them back in front . All goals were scored in a space of 7 minutes.
In the second half  Leiceester went on the defensive allowing Burnley to came at them but were soon  down hearted after Wallace got the equalizer in the 90th minute.

Next was Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion , the Reds were looking to secure a win and possibly avoid their third defeat of the season. The first half was very intense with Liverpool attacking and blazing on all cylinders. The goal finally came in the 45th minute and it was new team mate Lallana scoring his first goal for the Reds, it was the way he celebrated his first goal that would remain in the minds of the fans.
In the second half  West Brom were awarded a penalty  in the 56th minute and Berahino scored from the spot kick to level things up. Later the Reds went in front through  Henderson as he got his first of the season in the 61st minute.  A real confidence booster for Liverpool but he still have a long way to go if they are to reach the heights of last season.

Later in the day Sunderland took on Stoke City in a four goal thriller, Gus Poyet was delighted with the game as his team came out on top. The opening goal came in the 4th minute through Wickham , Stoke City then got their equalizer through Adam in the 15th minute. Fletcher then gave Sunderland the lead in the 23rd minute. In the second half Stoke City still looked treating with Victor Moses on the wings , Fletcher finally sealed the 3 points for Sunderland in the 79th minute  securing Sunderlands first win of the season.

Hull City also took on Crystal Palace  in a game that ended two nil to Hull. No goals were scored in the first half since both teams were very cautious not to open up . In the second half  Diame scored the opening goal in the 60th minute , later Jelavic made it two in the 89th minute. This meant Hull City had recorded their second win of the season  giving Steve Bruce’s team the much needed boost.

Swansea City faced Newcastle with Alan Pardew still on the hot seat , but was amazingly giving a breather by Cisse as he went on a solo mission to save the manager. In the first half  Bony opened his account with a goal in the 17th minute , later Cisse got the Equalizer in the 43rd minute to level things for the visitors. At the start of the second half Routledge put the host in front again in the 50th minute , and just when Swansea thought they had things wrapped up Cisse again struck home in the 75th minute to put Newcastle level.

In the final game on Saturday Aston Villa hosted Manchester City and unfortunately their losing strike didn’t end. Both two goals came very late in the game  as the Villa defense proved to be very compact. When the defense finally caved in Toure produced the opener in the 82nd minute after cutting through the defense with an amazing run . The second goal came in the 88th minute through Aguero to snatch victory from Aston Villa.

On Sunday Manchester United faced Everton at Old Trafford. The game produced 3 goals but it could have been four if David De Gea hadn’t pulled an exceptional save. The opening goal came in the 27th minute through Di Maria giving the host the lead. Just on the stroke of half time  Everton were awarded a penalty after a luke Shaw challenge. But Baines failed to score from the spot kick after De Gea caught his direction.

At the start of the second half Naismith  scored the equalizer in the 55th minute giving Everton fans hope of getting a 2nd successive win at Old Trafford. To the delight of United fans Falcao got his first goal of the season for United in the 62nd minute . What a way to give your team the victory they needed.

Tottenham faced Southampton as Pochetino faced his old club at the White Hart lane. The only goal of the game came from Eriksen on the 40th minute mark in the first half.  Southampton controlled most of the second half but had fewer chances per stats the from.

Arsenal tasted their first defeat after Chelsea beat them by two goals to nil. During the build up to the game Mourinho and Wenger were really taking shots at each other , the later transferred their argument to the pitch with a few shoves here and there. But Mourinho’s team came up on top with Hazard scoring a penalty in the 27th minute  after being fowled by Koscielny .

 At the start of the second half Arsenal had more possession and looked more like the home team but again Ozil was a pale shadow of himself again , and Sanchez on the other had was neutralized by the Chelsea’s defense. Diego Costa had his opportunity though and really showed why he is leading the scorers chart as he got his 9th of the season in the 78th minute.

In the final game on Sunday West Ham United  took on Queen Park Rangers at the Boleyn Ground. First goal came as an own goal Onuoha from a corner in the 5th minute. The second goal however came in the second half from Sakho in the 59th minute , securing  Sam Allardyce’s second straight win and also  keeping  their first clean sheet of the season. But West Ham really didn’t play as they did against Liverpool and QPR on the other hand came close on some occasions with Kranjcar’s free kick.
