ROUND UP OF EPL WEEK 4

After the international break the EPL was back and to get week 4 started was a match between Arsenal and league champions Manchester City.
The game set of with great pace and energy from both teams , but it was Aguero who scored in the 28th minute to give the league champions the lead in the first half. In the second half the gunners came back strong with the equalizer through Wilshere in the 64th minute. Later sanchez scored a spectacular in the 74th minute to give the gunners the lead. Just when we all thought Arsenal could hold on to their goal Demichelis scored in the 84th minute to level things up , it finished 2-2  at the Emirates.

Next was Chelsea taking on Swansea City at the bridge. Both teams came into this match on beaten with 3 wins so on paper it looked like a tough game but the blues made it look easy. To our surprise John Terry opened his goal account with an own goal in the 11th minute. Swansea managed to hold onto the lead until the Deigo Costa got the equalizer in the 45th minute to end the first half ,this meant he had scored in every game since coming to the premier league. At the start of the second half we saw more goals from Costa as he scored in the 56th  and 67th  minute to get his first hatrick of the season. Later new signing  remy made it 4 for Chelsea in the 81st minute to open his account for the blues. Jonjo Shelvey then pulled one back for the Swans in the 86th minute. The game ended 4-2 to Chelsea.

Stoke City also took on Leicester City at the Britannia , Leicester recorded their first win after holding their ground at the Britannia were many teams have falling , their team was more organized in defense than Stoke City and they showed for it after Ulloa scored in the 64th minute being the only goal of the game.

Else it was more headache for Alan Pardews Newcastle as the travelled to Southhampton. Newcastle are yet to win a game this season and it looks like Newcastles new signs haven’t quiet settled yet in though they play some really fine football. In the first half we saw 2 goals from Pelle in the 6th and 19th minute and in the second , goals came from Cork in the 54th minute and Schneiderlin in the 90th minute to put the game to bed.

Sunderland also took on Tottenham at the stadium of light , four goals were produced. In the first half Chadli scored an own goal to give Tottenham the lead in the 2nd minute , Johnson then pulled one for Sunderland in  4th minute, Eriksen then  scored in the 48th minute giving Tottenham the lead. In the second half Kane scored the equalizer for Sunderland in the 82nd minute to end the game.

Crystal Palace also took on Burnley  at Selhurst Park  in the game that saw no goals. Chances were created but none were executed to produce any goals. A last gasp penalty save from Speroni gave Crystal Palace a draw as the struggled all day with Burnley. This meant both teams were still without a win in the league. Here are the STATS  from the game.

During the day West Bromich Albion  hosted Everton , In the first half Lukako open his league account with a goal in the 2nd minute and in the second half Mirallas made it two in the 66th minute to end the game 0-2 in favor of Everton.
Here are the STATS from the game.

At the end of the day Liverpool took on Aston Villa at Anfield , Liverpool came into the game without lead striker Sturridge to lead the front line, Sterling also started from the bench in which some fans were displeased. Liverpool started strong as always gaining more possession but still lacked in the final third were it mattered most. Finally Agbonlahor scored in the 9th minute from a corner to give Villa the lead at Anfield and subsequently the 3 points at the end of the day. Coutinho’s effort that hit the post was the closest Liverpool came to the scoring. This meant Aston Villa won  an important victory  which would prove vital in the long run and Liverpool were handed their first home loss.

On Sunday , Manchester United took on Queens Park Rangers at Oldtraford , to many Oldtraford faithfulls it was the beginning of a new era as Falcoa was to start from the bench as a United player for the first time. United started well with their goal coming from Di maria as he opened his account in the 24th minute. Herrera also scored his first in a Red Devils shirt in the 36th minute , Rooney then made it three in the 44th minute which ended the first half. In the second half Juan Mata made it four in the 58th minute to put the game beyond reach for QPR. Not to take anything from QPR though as they really played well created some great chances asking questions of Van Gaals new back four. They just weren’t lucky to put on at the back of the net.

For many pundits a much bigger test lies ahead of Van Gaals men if the are to revive the team.

Elsewhere Steve Bruces Hull City also took on West Ham at the KC stadium. In the first half Hull debutant  Hernadez got his first  goal  for Hull in the 36th minute. In the second half three goals were produced as Valencia got his first goal of the season in the 50th minute to level things up. Later Diame restored Hull City’s lead in the 64th minute, only for Davies to score an own goal in the 67th minute which snatched victory from the hands of Steve Bruce and his men.
On a positive note it was a very entertaining game with both teams showing their strengths indicating they really came to the party this time around , and it also serves as a warning to other teams who are yet to play them.
