The EPL returned after
the Champions League activities with only Liverpool getting a win
amongst the English representatives. However week 5 began with a game between
Queens Parker Rangers and Stoke City.
The first 45 produced two goals ,Diouf scoring in the 11th
minute to put the Pooters in front. The equalizer then came through Caulker in
the 42nd minute for Queens Park Rangers. In the second half Crouch
scored in the 51st minute to restore Stoke City’s lead. From that
point Stoke were on the defensive and just when we thought they were bagging
the three points , Kranjcar scored in the 88th minute to deny Stoke
City.
In the next game Swansea took on Southampton , Swansea
recorded their first home defeat at the hands of the Saints surprisingly. The
only goal of the game came in the 80th minute through Wanyama who
came on as a substitute for Ward Prowse.
A bit unlucky for the Swans played well but take nothing away from
Southampton who dominated most of the
game as they showed by winning.
During the day Newcastle Untied took on Hull City , most of
the Newcastle fans still showing their distaste for Alan Pardew and were more
displeased when their club realized their 3rd kit after going four
games without a win.
The first half saw no goals , but the game came alive in the second half and we
saw four goals. Jelavic opened the dead lock with his goal 48th
minute , Diame then made it two for Hull City in the 68th minute.
At this point Alan Pardew’s men were starring at defeat but all was not lost as they managed to pull
one back through Cisse in the 73rd minute . Cisse later grabbed the
equalizer in the 87th minute to give Alan a breather.
Burnley took on Sunderland
in a game that finished 0-0 , there were lots of attempts on goal for
both sides but none were able to convert the to goals. Sunderland had better
possession through out the spell of the game but had fewer attempts at goal.

After defeating Liverpool at anfield , Aston Villa hosted
Arsenal at the villa park in the game were many expected Villa to hold their
ground against Arsenal. The most entertaining part of the game was in the first
half , Ozil got the opening goal in the 32nd
minute at a sweet ball from Welbeck . Later Welbeck scored his goal through an
Ozil assist. It was brilliant play on the path of Arsenal who later forced
Cissokho to score an own goal to make it 0-3 in the 36th minute. Surprisingly
all of Arsenals goals just came in the space of four minutes. In the second
half Wengers men took their feet of the pedal allowing Aston Villa to come out
of their defensive shell but couldn’t manage to score.
In the final game on Saturday West Ham took on Liverpool ,
Liverpool were coming back from a Champions league win which should have giving
the Reds a moral booster but as it turned out the Reds were still lacking their
edge from last season.
The first half saw three goals produced , the first goal
coming from Reid in the 2 minute . It was later followed by a goal from Sakho in the 7th minute
meaning the Reds had conceded the goals in just a space of five minutes. Liverpool then got one through
Sterling in the 26th minute. The second so Liverpool dominate most
parts of the game but failed to make anything useful out of their possession. In the 88th minute West Ham put the
game beyond Liverpools reach when a formal player Downing gave an inviting
cross for Amalfitano to poke home for West Ham.
On Sunday Tottenham took on West Brom at the White Hart Lane
, The first half saw no goals produced but in the second half the dead lock was
broken through a header from Morrison in the 74th minute giving West Brom their
first win of the campaign.

Later in the day Leicester City took on Manchester United in
the game that saw 8 goals and Leicester City making a great comeback against
the comeback kings themselves. In the first half Van persie opened the score
chat with his in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute Di
Maria made it two to the visitors. Just a minute after leading by two goals
Ulloa pulled one back for Leicester in the
17th minute.
At the start of the second half Herrera got his first for United in the 57th minute. From this point everyone thought United had a
comfortable lead to secure 3 points. To their dismay Nugent got scored from the
spot kick in the 62nd minute
to reduce the tally. In the 64th
minute Cambiasso leveled things up to
mount real pressure on the visitors. Vardy then gave Leicester their deserved
lead in the 79th minute to increase Van Gaals wows. Blackett was then set off in the 83rd
minute resulting in a penalty after a pointless challenge on Vardy. Ulloa made it five for Leicester City
securing a famous victory for his side.
In the final game of week 5 the Champions Manchester City
took on Chelsea at the Etihad. The first half saw no goals produced with both
sides tactically disciplined. In the second half the game came alive after
Zabaleta was sent off in the 66th minute giving Chelsea the upper
hand with 11 men against Cities 10 men , after the incident super substitute Schurrle scored
in the 71st minute. This mounted a lot of pressure of the Citizens
as they couldn’t afford a defeat. Pellegrini then made a change bringing on
Chelsea and England legend Lampard , Milners cross saw Lampard connect with his
trademark volley to level things in the 85th minute. The legend couldn’t
even give a smile as he was obviously filled with mixed reactions but none the
less played like a professional.
In the other game Everton took on Crystal Palace at the
Goodison Park , it was a game many
expected Everton to win but things just weren’t going according to the script
this week.
During the first half two goals were produced , Lukaku got
the opener in the 9th minute
and Crystal Palace got the equalizer from the spot kick through Jedinak
in the 30th minute. At the start of the second half Palace got their
lead through Campbell in the 54th
minute. Later Bolasie made it three for
the visitors in the 69th minute.
Everton were heading towards defeat and didn’t look treating enough to
get level. Baines got one back for the Toffees in the 83rd minute
but it was a little too late as Crystal Palace made away with the 3 points.
